fanart, a freshly hatched Iskierka
Fandom: Temeraire Series by Naomi Novik
Characters/Pairings: Iskierka
Media used: pencil, fine liner pen with waterproof indian ink, acrylic paint, a bit of white conté chalk
Rating/warnings: G, none
Notes/comments: The coloring didn't turn out quite like I intended, but it's not that bad considering that it's only the second time I colored anything with acrylic glazes. (gah, this is actually one of those "I'm new to this" apologist author's/artist's notes, isn't it? >.< ) Also for some reason my scanner not only produced a weird stripe artifact that I couldn't get rid of (it is not that intrusive, but still), it also reproduced the colors less bright than in the actual picture. *grumble*

Whoa. And I thought the black and white picture was good. This looks like cover art!

That's really nice! There's a great sense of mass and presence to the little dragon's form; I particularly love the 3D-looking eye.

It took me a ridiculous number of thumbnails to manage a pose that I liked that looked like unfolding her bulk out of an egg. It's awesome to hear the pose works for you.

Oh, I like this a lot! I think the "sliminess" of the egg remnants is much clearer in color -- and I think the red against this background works well!

Thanks, it's great to hear that I managed to make the slime look slimy, and I'm relieved to hear about the background, too.

I love the colouring, not only of Iskierka (though she is gorgeous), but also the way she stands out against the background. And the eye looks so wet and shiny.

This is gorgeous.

Thank you, I'm glad to hear the background still works fordramatic contrast, even though it didn't quite turn out like i imagined it. (I guess that's the advantage of the audience never kowing how much better everything always looks inside your head. *g*)

That's great - she looks so mischievous - just like she should. Excellent detail in the whole thing.
