so that SUP interview...
While I'm less than thrilled (to put it mildly) with the views that SUP official expressed in that interview (I read the translated version here), I'm mostly boggled that they let someone say these things openly in a press interview. In a way it is refreshing compared to the totally vapid phrases in places like the most recent news post where they try to pretend they care about the users without saying much of anything.

Yeah, I'm quite o_O!

This is not the way to make your cranky userbase happier,SUP. Usually insulting them works in the opposite way.

Hm. Yeah, not sure what to think. Or rather, I know what to think but my mind's in a happy fannish place right now and doesn't want to get all worked up. Anyway, somehow I don't think LJ and SUP are gonna be happy 4ever. I wonder how long it'll take until they realize this isn't the cash cow they hoped for, and toss us to the next buyer. Hopefully they'll do so without running the site in the ground before.

The problem is that they think they LJ is theirs because they paid for it, and we think it's ours because we built it.

Meh, I'm going back to drawing fanart.

Good response. Certainly more fun than wondering whether they don't have a policy against people without PR training (and really I can't imagine that guy having any, talking like he is) giving interviews that cause their image with their users to go even more FUBAR than it already is.

Well, I still remember a couple of times when mailing lists (especially of the one-list/egroups/yahoogroups variety) would suddenly vanish without warning over night, including some huge lists, and suddenly you were out of touch with everybody in your fandom or pairing, so it wasn't all roses then.

Yeah< i remember that too...but it wasn't this constant stream of obnoxious and inept business decisions. I left alt.tv.sentinel for the lists, and I left the lists for LJ...if there was somewhere better to go, I'd leave.
