Elseworld scans (more BDSM weirdness)
You remember how a short while ago I brought to you some Elseworld scans, among them that wacky Batman SM outfit? And thought that couldn't be topped? Well I'm just now reading a Superman Elseworld trade, Superman: The Dark Side (written by John Francis Moore, pencils by Kieron Dwyer, inks by Hilary Barta), and the plot isn't really all that important to these three panel scans. All I have to say is, if you ever wanted to see Lex Luthor naked (well okay he has a loin cloth), gagged and wearing a dog collar, while a huge dominatrix wielding a whip towers over him (you see bloody whip marks too), you should take a look behind this cut tag.

You know, each time I think that there are certainly things I'd only ever see in fanfiction not in the comic books, I'm proven wrong.

Yeah, O.O was my reaction exactly. I mean, okay so the fetish undercurrent in comics is pretty much anywhere with the armor and the costumes and the frequent torture scenes, but this? It's not the slightest bit subtle about its porn and it doesn't even have a mature readers warning anywhere I could see...

Heh. You know, I'd love to say that it was really integral to the story-telling to show Lex like that and to include this weird dominatrix granny, but it's just delightfully gratuitous kink...

Oh, geez, that's absolutely wonderful. Once I get a disposable income I can already tell I'll spent too much of it on wacky comics.

But it'll be money well spent. You see lots of stuff done to your favorite characters that you'll never find on tv. *g*

But I already get Lex torture on Smallville!

Just not to that extent.

All this stuff is so delightfully warped. I never realised DC was such good crack (oh, the woes of being a sadly burned XMen fan).

She's called Granny by everybody. Like she says, she runs an orphanage and the feral looking people crouching next to her are actually children in her "care." It's quite remarkable what you'll find in comics (especially considering the reputation of the US as "prude" and all about "protecting the children" and what not), like recently I read a Batman one with an tv executive being spanked with a paddle by a fat woman in a frilly dress while Winnie the Pooh watches, over several panels no less, and I swear that despite appearances I'm actually *not* picking up my comic reading material based on kinky pictures. It's not like it had a mature readers label or anything. I mean I was all "hmm. Superman raised by Darkseid, now that sounds interesting." and then I open it and get kinky Lex pictures. Not that that is a bad thing.

*snerk* Bringin' the WRONG.

'Granny' is a not-very-different-from-canon version of Granny Goodness of Apokolips. She runs "orphanages" (aka training/torture camps) for Darkseid.

Ookay. I didn't know that the weird dominatrix granny wasn't even Elseworld. I just kind of had *assumed* that she was. But then again, what was I expecting, in the DCU...

Heh. Since I became interested in the DCU, my dreams, that is the fandom related ones, certainly have gotten a *tad* weirder. Things like that just raise the bar a bit, you know? ;)

All those wacky scenarios other fandoms only have in fic, you get to see realized, like Batman as vampire, as pirate, as cowboy, as samurai, as medieval knight, as goth pop musician, or as were-bat because he was cursed by a gypsy... (I'm not kidding, those all exist.)

You even get gender-switch stories, like in the latest order catalog I've seen an ad for an upcoming Superman/Batman issue, and well, apparently there's either a gender-switch or an alternate timeline or *something*, because Superman, Supergirl and Batman all switched genders somehow, to quote the preview text "[...] the fate of the universe hangs in the balance unless the World's Finest Team -- The Dark Damsel Detective and The Woman of Steel that is -- can stop it! There's nothing more incredible than the debut of Batwoman and Superwoman! Guest-starring Superlad!"

And it's not just Elseworlds. I mean, there was this long weekend that I spent just reading Flash comics, and after several dozens of comics the stuff naturally crept into my dreams, and... yeah. Not exactly nightmares but definitely weird. Not only does Flash sometimes get chained and collared in his regular series too, there are also his wacky supervillain adversaries, with names like Rainbow Raider, Crazy Quilt and The Fashioneer (the latter uses his time power to get future fashion designs and sell them in the present, no really, and I have no idea why he wouldn't just heat the lottery, but Flash villains are like that, they use awesome powers like weather control and such to rob banks).

But anyway, the DCU is a good fandom for both weirdness and pretty bondage pics... *g*
