| I figured I could do this too, even though I don't write, by asking the question for art:
If you had me under your command and could make me write draw anything, regardless of whether or not I know the fandom or if anybody even writes fic draws fanart in that fandom and no matter how crack-addled it might be, what would you love to see me write draw?

| I'm sure you're all sick of it by now, but I'm a sheep. Though apparently at least according to my own assessment my inner self is best expressed as a sparrow. (And really why does most of my f-list that I've seen post this get cool predators like wolves, tigers, ocelots and such, while I get a sparrow? Couldn't it have been at least a cool bird?) ( take a look at my dæmon ) | |

| This meme was a lot of fun the last time I offered drawbles, so I thought I'd do it again: The drawble-interests meme- Comment and I'll pick one or two of your lj interests and draw you a picture.
- You have no say as to what I draw for you or as to how much it will suck.
- Copy this and the pic that is drawn for you into your journal. (Optional)
Examples for the kind of quick, sloppy pencil doodles you can expect are in this LJ picture gallery where I posted all my previous drawbles. Also, obviously for this to work you need to have interests listed in your profile. (I know, it seems self-evident, but last time a few people asked for one, yet didn't list any LJ interests, so...)

| I finished assembling the rat cage, and while I don't have all the things for its interior yet, it's already obvious that it'll be much nicer for rats than the old one. For me too, because it'll be much easier to clean than my current cage, which I have to take apart for that. I'm really pleased with the cage, even though at the moment it takes up all the space in the middle of the room where I assembled it, as the place where it's supposed to go in the other room is still occupied by my current cage. Unfortunately that will be the case for a while longer because the breeder advised that Ben and the eventual newcomers would have an easier time with each other if their home was new for all of them, if that was an option. I considered not assembling it yet, but the parts took up room too (if slightly less) and I also wanted to see whether all the parts were alright and fit together okay. I assembled it on a board with wheels so I can move it without problems at least, if I want to do anything in that room, like getting to the comics, watering the plant and the like. So, first a "before picture" showing the ca. 65kg of metal parts I schlepped up five flights of stairs on Friday: ( a rat cage in parts )After figuring out the instructions -- which thankfully weren't more complicated than for a piece of IKEA furniture, though unfortunately the pictures didn't show the screws, nuts and bolts and I had to figure out which parts were meant by the instruction sheet when it talked about things like "Ringnutbolzen", but mostly any part fit only in one kind of place so it was easier than expected -- and a couple of hours work I finally ended up with a cage that even looked like advertised: ( the picture is somewhat crappy, because I didn't have any room to get far enough away from it at a good angle to take a picture )The lower two modules both have an inserted floor like this: ( a closer look a a module )The openings between the modules (you can see the holes on the picture above) can be closed with either a solid barrier, a barrier with wire mesh if you want different groups of rats to be able to see and smell each other through them to get them used to each other or left open. So if I should have bad luck and Ben won't get along with the future new rats I could let them get used to each other slowly, or even keep them apart permanently without any problems or having to accommodate more than one cage in the room. I chose the upper module without an inserted floor to turn it into a more free-style play area with room to put a larger climbing branch somewhere in the cage and maybe some longer winding plastic tubes, since my rats so far all have loved tubes a lot: ( right now the upper area looks very empty )And because Ben looked ridiculously cute when he fell asleep next to me on my pillow: ( click for a cute sleeping rat )
Finally, for the last day of that food log meme, today I ate: - a latte, two slices of pumpkin seed bread, one with plum jam, the other with cream cheese and strawberry jam, for breakfast
- a satsuma, a banana and another latte during the morning
- three pancakes (one with strawberry jam, one with plum jam, and one with banana slices and cinnamon as toppings) for lunch
- a bowl of leftover butternut squash risotto with a piece of garlic bread for dinner
P.S.: Does anybody else get weird errors on all LJ scrapbook pages, i.e. specifically for me the page only partially loads and says "[Error: Can't locate object method "can_use_sms" via package "FB::User" at /home/lj/cgi-bin/LJ/Nav.pm line 114. ]"? I mean, I can upload and edit pictures, mostly what doesn't load is the navigation, but it's still annoying.

| Today I've eaten: - a latte, a slice of wasa bread with cream cheese and a satsuma for breakfast
- a Franzbrötchen, a slice of pumpkin seed bread with cream cheese, a satsuma, a handful of banana chips and another latte over the course of the day
- a bowl of lentil-vegetable stew with potatoes for dinner

| Things I've eaten today: - a latte and and a banana for breakfast
- two scrambled eggs and some, um, hash browns I think this is called in the US (fried, shredded potatoes?) with a cream cheese/yogurt dip for lunch
- a slice of rye bread with emmentaler cheese, an apple, a few grapes and another latte during the afternoon
- a bowl of butternut squash risotto for dinner
- some hazelnuts during the evening

| Today (well technically yesterday) I ate: - a latte and two slices of wasa bread with cream cheese and strawberry and plum jam respectively, and a banana for breakfast
- a Franzbrötchen[1] for lunch
- a satsuma, some hazelnuts and a latte during the afternoon
- baked butternut squash with butter and sour cream and some bread dumplings for dinner (btw, thanks to all of you who shared preparation advice for the squash, it was very tasty!)
[1] A Franzbrötchen is a local pastry, it's kind of a cross between a croissant and a cinnamon roll, i.e. the dough is like a croissant's but made flat and a bit less fluffy, and it usually has sugar and cinnammon in it, though variants are also sold with raisins, chocolate chips, poppy seeds and pumpkin seeds.
|
| Today I ate (beverages are only listed when they weren't plain tap water): - a bowl of muesli from rolled oats, flax seed, an apple, a banana, some grapes with milk and a latte for breakfast
- two slices of bread (one rye, one spelt) with cheese, mustard and cucumber slices, some coleslaw and a satsuma for lunch
- some hazelnuts and dried banana chips and another latte during the afternoon
- a bowl of pasta with broccoli and mushrooms in a tomato cream sauce for dinner
- a satsuma and a mug of hot chocolate during the evening
On a somewhat random note, I rewatched a few CSI episodes from season three, because I'm quite dissatisfied with the current season so far, and wanted to remind myself why I used to enjoy the show so much. And since I first got into CSI around season three those were the logical choice. It really turned out that even though the cases weren't mysteries for me anymore, I still had more fun rewatching than with the current eps. Sigh.

| Lots of people on my f-list are doing the tv ignorance meme, so I thought, why not? Shows I'm familiar with include among others all Star Trek series, SG-1 and SGA, Farscape, Babylon 5 and Crusade, Andromeda, Jeremiah, Odyssey 5, Jake 2.0, Buffy and Angel, Firefly, Smallville, Roswell, Supernatural, Miracles, Witchblade, Dark Angel, Highlander, The Sentinel, Due South, The X-Files, Invisible Man, Dead Zone, CSI, Da Vinci's Inquest, Criminal Minds, Numb3rs, Everwood, ER, Traders, Life on Mars, The Professionals, and this season I've watched some or all of the new series Heroes, Jericho, Standoff, The Nine and Dexter. Ask me about any show that you think I haven't seen, and I'll tell you what I think it's about judging from what I've seen on my f-list and the Internet in general.
As for another meme, I've seen a couple of people on my f-list participate in the incendiaryfood food log, and when I first read about that yesterday evening I noticed that I actually couldn't recall everything I had eaten that day, which was kind of embarrassing. So here's what I've eaten today (beverages are only listed when they weren't plain tap water): - a slice of spelt-bread with cream cheese and strawberry jam, a latte, and two satsumas for breakfast
- a couple of dried banana chips and hazelnuts during the morning
- some muesli, i.e. a bowl of rolled oats mixed with some flax seed, some hazelnuts, a sliced banana, half an apple, a couple of grapes with milk, for lunch
- a slice of dark rye-bread with emmentaler cheese and another latte as afternoon snack
- two bowls of leftover vegetable soup (it had mostly carrots, cabbage, bell peppers, chickpeas and potatoes in it, since that was what I had on hand when I made it two days ago) with rice for dinner
- another satsuma and a couple of pumpkin seeds as evening snack

| Gakked from half my f-list, most recently jacquez. 1) Put your music player on random 2) For the first 20 tracks, find a picture of the artist via Google Images (or cheat *cough cough*) 3) Get your friends to guess the artist. ( lots of pictures... )I obviously listen to way too much folk with guitars atm... *cringes* These women look all eerily similar, however I swear, I faithfully used the google image search results and entered different names. ETA: Now with solutions. | |

| That interest collage thing was fun, though I found it really weird to see some of my own fanart offered as option for my interests, and strangely enough the pencils not the finished colored versions either. I mean, I know that I don't block google and other search engines, but to click through the images for my interest "batverse" and find two of my own pictures offered alongside of official cover art is still strange. I guess as a word "Batverse" is more fannish slang so fanart labeled as such is higher among the hits. (Obviously I chose the prettier Jim Lee cover image for the collage...) | I always feel kind of odd doing memes that require reader participation to work, but since everybody seems to be doing it, and I'm a meme sheep:
1. Ask me one fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general. 2. Just one question, please, but it can (and perhaps should) have sub-parts. 3. That's it. It can be as normal or odd as you like.
(Also, on the small chance that there's someone who wants to ask more than one question, I don't really care about limiting it to one, it's not like I'm likely to be flooded with questions or anything like that.)
|
| I decided I ought to just draw more and be less shy about drawing something quickly, so I thought I'd give this meme that I've seen a while ago a try. Gacked from glockgal. The drawble-interests meme1. Comment and I'll pick one or two of your lj interests and draw you a picture. 2. You have no say as to what I draw for you or as to how much it will suck. 3. Copy this and the pic that is drawn for you into your journal. (Optional) For example, I have listed "Disney" and "Star Wars" among my interests, so: ( Disney + Star Wars ) | |
